Why RevenueCat and App Store Connect numbers don't match

Updated 2026-11-02 · 3 min read

Short answer: They count the same purchases differently: Apple's downloaded sales reports use Pacific Time while RevenueCat uses UTC, RevenueCat's proceeds are estimates of Apple's cut and tax, refunds land on different dates, and the two use different exchange rates. Small daily gaps are normal; a gap that suddenly grows is not.

1. Time zone

Downloaded Sales and Trends reports run from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The App Store Connect web dashboard shows UTC by default and App Analytics uses UTC. RevenueCat uses UTC. So a purchase at 6 p.m. in California is on different days in different reports.

2. Revenue vs proceeds

RevenueCat's "Revenue" corresponds to the customer price. Its "Proceeds" corresponds to Apple's partner share, but RevenueCat estimates Apple's commission and taxes, so it won't match Apple to the cent.

3. Transaction date vs settlement date

RevenueCat uses the transaction date. Apple's financial reports use the settlement date and Apple's fiscal months, and Apple can bill renewals later than expected.

4. Refunds

Apple counts a refund on the day it happens. RevenueCat subtracts it from the original transaction's date, so past days in RevenueCat can change.

5. Exchange rates

RevenueCat converts on the purchase date. Sales and Trends uses a rolling average of the previous month's rates. Financial reports use the rate at payout time.

How to reconcile them

  1. Compare weekly or monthly totals, not single days.
  2. Compare like with like: customer price with customer price, proceeds with proceeds.
  3. Expect a small, steady percentage gap. Investigate when the gap changes suddenly, because that usually means a broken webhook, a missing product or a sandbox purchase leaking in.

WhyItChanged keeps both sources (plus your backend, if you send purchases) and shows the gap with a tolerance, so you only look when it moves.

Apple's financial reports, since they reflect what Apple actually pays out. Use RevenueCat for daily product decisions.
